Bringing America to an Australian (sourcream/whitechocchip Banana Bread)

Yesterday I saw three bananas in the fruit bowl going on the south side of their lives. There was sour cream in the fridge that needed some using. There was a request from the boy to make something with white chocolate chips.

why not combine everything?

I’m American. I eat ketchup with everything. BBQ on almost everything. Have you tried hummus and BBQ sauce together? I had oatmeal this morning with PB, coconut and strawberries. The boy asked me what I was eating..oatmeal..duh! Obviously he hasn’t read food blogs. You throw everything into oatmeal. It’s interesting dating an Australian, because we are very similar in many things, but when it comes to food there are differences.

I thought I’d bring a little America to his life…welcome to my spin on banana bread.

Sour Cream White Choc-Chip Bread
1- loaf pan

.5 c. butter
.75 c. white sugar
3 TB brown sugar
2 eggs
.75 c. sour cream
1.5 TB vanilla
3-4 ripe bananas, mashed up
1 tsp ground cinnamon
.25 tsp. ground nutmeg
2 tsp. baking powder
.5 tsp salt
1.5 c. self-rising flour
.5 c. white chocolate chips

Pre-heat oven to 335/160.

Mix butter and sugar together. Add eggs. Mix in sour cream. Add in vanilla. Stir in mashed up bananas. Add in cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in flour, salt and baking powder.

Grease a loaf pan and add batter. Top with a generous sprinkling of white sugar…because it’s good for you.

1 hour-ish to bake.

Ohh the crust

Then a slice…heaven help me

Sometimes you just have to be a bit creative, trust your sense of taste and viola it’s something pretty damn good. I sent them in a tupperware container to the boy’s office, spoilt workers they are.

Welcome to America, babe!
